Just 4 easy steps.

Whether you need help or have time and talents to give — connecting is just a few clicks away.

Step 1

Choose Your Role

Need help with something? Or have skills and time to offer? Pick your role and you're on your way.

Step 2

Enter Your Local Area

Type the first 3 characters of your postal code. That's all we need to find someone nearby.

Step 3

We Review & Look for a Fit

During this local pilot, requests and new Sponteers are reviewed first so connections can be made thoughtfully.

Step 4

Connect & Help

When there is a good fit, we help make the connection. Say hello, arrange details safely — and make someone's day.

Helping shouldn't require a long-term obligation.

Many of us want to give back — but life doesn't always allow for weekly commitments. Sponteers© was born from a simple idea: what if helping your neighbour was as straightforward as it sounds?

Whether you have an afternoon to spare or need someone to help with a single task, there is a place for you here.

"I retired and realized I had so much to give — just not every Wednesday at 9am. Sponteers© lets me help on my terms, and the satisfaction is incredible."
"I needed help moving a few heavy boxes after a fall and couldn't afford movers. A Sponteer showed up within hours. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of a stranger."

What can Sponteers help with?

About Sponteers©

Why Sponteers© Exists

Many people — especially after retirement — find themselves with time, skills, and a genuine desire to help others. But traditional volunteering often asks for regular, scheduled commitments: every Tuesday, every month, every season. Life doesn't always fit that mold.

At the same time, people in need often struggle to find help for small but necessary tasks — someone to shovel the walk, help with basic paperwork, a small yard task, or an extra pair of hands for something manageable. Tasks too small for a formal service, too big to manage alone.

Sponteers© was built to bridge that gap. It's a community connector for one-time, spontaneous acts of goodwill. No red tape. No long-term obligations. Just people helping people.

🌱 Our Values

  • 🆓Always free. No one pays to give or receive help.
  • 🔒Privacy first. We protect contact information at every step.
  • 🤝Trust-based. All participants agree to community standards before taking part.
  • 🌍Community-driven. We grow as the trust we earn grows.
  • 🚫No long-term commitments. Ever. That's the point.
A note on our purpose: Sponteers© is intended to help people who genuinely cannot afford to hire professional services for a task. It is not meant to compete with, or take business away from, the tradespeople, caregivers, and other professionals who make their living providing these services. We ask all Sponteers to keep this spirit of goodwill in mind.

🌱 Participant Responsibility & Practical Limits

Sponteers© is a community connector, not a professional service. We want people to help generously, while staying wise about safety and limits.

  • 🤝Sponteers are volunteers, not employees, agents, contractors, or representatives of Sponteers©.
  • 🧰Everyone is responsible for their own safety, choices, tools, permissions, insurance, and conduct.
  • 🚫Please do not use Sponteers© for emergencies, medical care, electrical, plumbing, structural, regulated, licensed, or unsafe work.
  • 🛑Either person may decline, stop, or leave at any time if something feels unsafe, uncomfortable, unqualified, or unclear.

Safety on Sponteers©

Staying Safe on Sponteers©

Sponteers© is built on trust — but trust is always earned. Here's how to protect yourself.

✅ For Everyone

  • 📞If possible, have a FaceTime or WhatsApp video call before meeting in person. Seeing someone's face matters.
  • 📣Tell someone. Let a friend or family member know who you're meeting, where, and when to expect you back.
  • 🤔Trust your gut. If something feels off, back out. No explanation needed.
  • 📍Meet in public first when possible — a coffee shop or parking lot — before going to a private address.
  • 📱Keep your phone charged. Always have a way to call for help.
  • 🚫No financial transactions. Legitimate Sponteers© interactions never involve money transfers or gift cards.
  • 🚨For emergencies, call 911. Sponteers© is not a crisis or emergency service.

🦸 For Sponteers

  • 🏠Consider bringing a companion on a first visit to someone's home.
  • 📝Be honest about your abilities — taking on tasks beyond your skill could put both of you at risk.
  • 🔑Always get permission before making any important or hard-to-reverse changes to a person's home or belongings.
  • 🛑You always have the right to say no, stop, or leave — for any reason, at any time.

🙋 For Those Seeking Help

  • 🏠Consider having a friend or family member present on a first visit from a Sponteer.
  • 🛑You always have the right to say no, stop, or ask someone to leave — for any reason, at any time.
  • 💬Ask questions. A trustworthy Sponteer will welcome them.
